This month’s teacher spotlight is from our Corcoran School. Ms. Krista is a Children’s House teacher and has been part of Step By Step for over 10 years.

Her experience at Step By Step started when she was just 18 years old when she started spending summers working at the Maple Grove school.

“I was going to school at Moorhead State for an elementary education degree but got to spend my summers working at Step By Step,” Krista said.

Once she graduated from college she started working full time at Maple Grove while she went through her Montessori training and in 2006 became a Children’s House teacher.

“I floated between all of the rooms when I was at Maple Grove but I really enjoyed watching children in Ms. Andrea’s room,” she said. “The children were so much more engaged and I loved seeing that .”

Ms. Krista spends her days teaching children ages 33 months to kindergarten and said she loves that her job is never sitting at a desk. “I love that I get to guide and observe the children. They aren’t limited by curriculum, they’re able to focus and lead the way.”

Ms. Krista lives in the Corcoran area with her husband, Matt and is expecting her first baby this winter.
