Enrollment

What do I do first?
The choice you make about your early child care and education is one of the most important decisions you can make. Each child is different, progresses at their own pace and has different personalities and needs. Step By Step Montessori’s enrollment process is designed to allow you time to visit, to ask questions, to observe your child interacting in our school and to assess whether your expectations of our school is a fit for your family. Submit a Request for Information or a Request a Visit and we’ll send you a package of electronic documents including our brochure, rate sheet, a comparison of Montessori with more traditional day cares, a list of Montessori myths and an application. We encourage you to visit.

Scheduled Visit
The first scheduled visit to our school provides you with an opportunity to gather information about what our program has to offer. You are welcome to visit our school anytime however to see a Montessori classroom in session we recommend you visit between 9 am and 11 am. During your visit you will have a conversation with our Center Director to discuss your family’s needs and expectations. Our Director will show you the programs applicable to your family, talk about the value of a Step By Step Montessori early childhood education as well as how Montessori is different from traditional day care centers. She will also go through the details of our enrollment process and review our standard policies and practices. It’s also a time for you to ask questions, don’t worry, we expect you to come with a list. Your child is welcome to visit with you at this time. > Schedule a Visit

Your Child’s First Day
Your child’s smooth transition into our center is of the utmost importance to us. If you haven’t met your teacher we’ll introduce your child to their teacher and allow them some time to get settled in their new room. Children react differently to new situations. Your child may become upset when you leave, but in most cases this is short lived. This transition can be just as hard for you as your child. It’s important that when you leave to go with a smile and a cheerful see you later. You are welcome to call later in the day to check on your child. Many parents keep going back for one more kiss, reassuring their children over and over. Uncertainty on you part, however, can hinder your child’s adjustment. In all probability, your child will love our school and will look forward to coming each day. Please be assured we will not allow your child to suffer prolonged unhappiness. You will be kept informed of your child’s successes or any adjustment difficulties as they occur.
